STEEL CHALLENGE AT ACTION PISTOL

Our goal is to offer safe and fun participation in Steel Shooting events for people of all ages and skill levels.

Steel Challenge @ Redmond will take place the first Saturday of the month from April through October at the Action Pistol Range. The course of fire will consist of 3 stages with 5 steel targets set up for each stage. Participants will shoot 5 strings during each stage. Each string will be
timed and scored.

  • Registration will start at 9:30 AM at Action Pistol, and the meet will start at 10:00 AM and run until about 1:00 PM

  • Participants help set up and tear down targets and other range setups. Everyone at Redmond Rod & Gun Club is a volunteer so the event help is required

  • It is up to each group to do their timing and scoring.  We will provide shot timers, score sheets and track scores over the season.

  • Centerfire Pistol only with two classes:  iron sights, & optic sights

  • Open shooting after the match depending on completion time

TACTICAL 3 GUN AT ACTION PISTOL

10am then every fourth Sunday in May, June, July, August, September & October 2024

“Tactical” is a dynamic 3-gun match using a pistol, shotgun and a pistol caliber carbine. It’s a combination of traditional 3-gun and IDPA. The discipline focuses on the use of cover, as well as shooting on the move and acknowledges the benefits of training with an elevated heart rate. We request an action range certification, law enforcement training or previous action shooting
experience. If you are unsure, please reach out to the match director prior to attending your first match.  Due to elevated ammo prices and shortages, .22 rifles and pistols are allowed.
Setup is around 8:30. Sign in before 9:30 am at the Action Pistol range. Walk-through at 10:00.  Match fee is $10 for members, and $20 for non-members.

Competitors shoot 4 stages and are scored by time + penalties. Paper and steel targets are used. We draw from a holster, shoot on the move, and require reloads. A covering garment (Jacket or Vest) may be required on some stages using a pistol (weather dependent.)

What to Bring:
Pistol with retention holster. External or Inside waistband worn forward of the shooters 3-9 o’clock. No open “race holsters.” A Kydex style holster is typical.
Pistol - Caliber Carbine- (9mm is common) Sling optional, 1-2 magazines.
12 Gauge Shotgun - 8+1 max rounds at start of stage. Magazine fed shotguns are allowed but will put the shooter in the “OPEN/Cheater” division.
Ear & Eye protection are required. Knee pads are recommended. Long guns must be cased. Bags or hard cases are acceptable.
Drinking water- No drinking fountain here. Hydrate!
Ammo: Plan on needing a max of 75 rounds of pistol, 75 rounds for a pistol caliber carbine, 35 rounds of bird shot, and 2 slugs. 5 rounds of buck shot (optional). If you do not have slugs or buck, do not let that keep you from attending.
